SAILING SERIES - OIL
COLD WAX PAINTING
I am currently exploring Cold Wax Painting which is the mixture of soft beeswax and oil paint that gives oil colours a beautiful translucent quality.
Cold Wax Painting suits my desires for a hands-on layering of colour, manipulation of the surface and the diversity of applications and techniques all inspired through my imagination and/or photography.
THE HEN HOUSE SERIES
A BROOD IN THE MAKING
IF A HEN AND A HALF,
LAID AN EGG AND A HALF,
IN A WEEK AND A HALF,
HOW MANY EGGS
WOULD IT LAY IN A WEEK?
My Grand-daughter always had an answer to the riddle and the answer is with in each painting.
OIL AND ACRYLIC PAINTINGS SERIES
THE HEN HOUSE - ACRYLIC
The Hen series started with one image that was to be a bowl of fruit and ended up as you can see. I did a smaller version to make two, but two hens do not make a Brood. The HEN HOUSE has a Brood in the making; Dr. Hen, Chef Hen, Accountant Hen, Dentist Hen, Fireman Hen, etc. Commission your favourite Hen. Add to the Brood.
TRANSPARENCY WITH ACRYLIC INKS
A build up of acrylic ink with added beeswax for texture creating subtle layers of colour. 10'' x 10'' wrap around deep canvas with striped sides of corresponding colours.
Ready to display individually or as a group hanging.
THE JOURNEY WAS CHALLENGING, BUT WORTH THE EFFORT.
Start with a design, a composition, that has no direct reference to a person, place or thing that has symmetry. This design is your organizing principle.
Take the design/composition and continue to create balance using
negative/positive space, texture, colour, line, composition, modulation of colour to arrive at a point where it collapses all together in a coherent, interactive and interrelated “organic unity”.
Each mark/colour/texture, etc., upon your surface will change the balance, the next mark may bring back balance and order is again achieved.
CORFU LANE WAY
Acrylic on Canvas
The blue shutters, black rail and pink bougainvillea caught my attention immediately. Painting this was a challenge, but like all challenges there is growth and rewards.

ACRYLIC on CANVAS

From a mark on the canvas, through the exploration of shape, colour, texture, acrylic mediums this image developed into a Menagerie of whatever ones sees within the image. What do you see?
Colour Abstraction in Symmetry

My goal. Leaving semi-abstraction behind and finding pure abstraction through colour modulation and design with the help of acrylic medium.
Acrylic here, Acrylic there, but not always Acrylic.
Exploration in Acrylics. As I continue to explore painting techniques or the development of a technique through repetiton, I will share the journey.

"Serious talent within the realm of abstraction. You have been acquiring the tools and skills with which to pursue this very sophisticated level of painting."
I quote a comment received by by instructor Paul Peregal as a reminder that it good to follow where the inspiration leads you and if that is abstraction in its purest form or just the loosening of an image or even an attempt at realism...it is all good.
Texture and Transparency
Transparency created through multiple layers of acrylic inks. Glass beads add to the texture. The wrap around canvas sides are striped in corresponding colours.
